Core Area Streetscape Project

An integral part of Hatfield Borough's Revitalization Plan is underway. Streetscape Plans for the "Core Area" of the downtown are being developed. The downtown area, which is encompassed by E. Broad St., East Lincoln Ave., and South Main St., will receive a complete facelift.

The streetscape plans call for new pedestrian level lighting, new brick and concrete sidewalks, streets trees and brick pedestrian crossings. Existing utility poles and lines will be placed underground to further enhance and beautify the core area of the downtown.

The estimated price tag of the project is 2.6 million dollars. Partial funding for the project has been secured from Montgomery County in the form of a Revitalization Grant. The Borough has applied for additional federal, state and county funding for the project.

The streetscape improvements were identified in the Borough's Revitalization Plan as a high priority item. Construction is expected to start in late summer of 2003.
